The Ferguson City Council convened for the first time since Mike Brown’s death, and proved that they literally give no fucks about what the community has to say. Added to their vague, paltry proposed reforms, seems real change will have to come in Ferguson via the ballot box. I don’t care where you live folks— let this be a lesson in voting/participating in your local elections and government! #staywoke #farfromover
My people getting it!
these people are the real heroes. not the military, not politicians, not the Hollywood actors. they risked their lives and livelihoods to challenge white supremacy and institutionalized racism.

It’s taken me 20 years, but I’m finally using the self-made booklet for it’s true & original purpose - spiritual proselytizing!
I read a bunch of Theosophical texts while researching The Cartoon Utopia, by a host of different authors. I had wanted to include these selections from COMOGENESIS that I picked out from the great reader’s edition (recommend!)of the The Secret Doctrine, but it didn’t work out.
In between having the idea, and actually drawing these images, I read Gary Lachman’s amazing book Madame Blavatsky: Mother of Modern Spirituality - and I came to a bit of a conclusion. I do think that Helena Blavatsky is being denied her due as the true matriarch of modern spirituality. I think that this new spiritual age that we live in, where once obscure eastern ideas, and so many new age concepts are common place, where yoga and vegetarianism are mainstream ideas - that we owe a debt to the Theosophists for their work in laying the roots that would allow these ideas to grow in spread in 20th century america. We’re missing out in matriarch in Madame Blavatskty.
The fact that HPB and Theosophy in general isn’t more well known today is obviously a result of our Patriarchal age. There aren’t many female founders of spiritual thought, in ancient or in modern times, are there? The rumors and accusations and misrepresentations of Madame Blavatsky and her followers are the same sort that are made towards any founder of a system of belief. I think Madame Blavatsky wasn’t able to rise above it because she was a woman, and I think Theosophy ended up on the margians because of the threat of its inclusiveness. As well as anyone with any sort of new age beliefs, aspects of metaphysical science appeal to certain christians, as well as some scientific atheists.
Appreciating Madame Blavatsky as the matriarch of these ideas, and increasing interest in basic Theosophical thoughts might be a helpful and unifying goal for our struggling society. There are texts and systems and language we can use to help us talk to each other about these new ideas regarding consciousness. It’s Theosophy.
